‘BONA ” Conquers NYC

The restored 1980 NV Productions Film of National Artists Lino Brocka and Nora Aunor was screened at the 62nd New York Film Festival last September 28, 2024 at the Walter Read Theater.

The fully packed screening (dominated by non-Filipinos) was indeed a welcome sight to the staunch Noranians, some flew from California and Canada, who flocked to support the film. Despite the rainy Fall weather, people still went to see this 44 year old classic Filipino film.

Luis Salvador, son of Phillip Salvador and Production Designer Fiel Zabat were present at the screening. Several film buffs and media people were there to cover the momentous event.

Truly, “BONA” has conqueredNYC!!!!

*In 2023, Carlotta Films and Kani Releasing acquired the rights to the film from its producer and actor, National Artist of the Philippines Nora Aunor. Bona has been scanned, restored, and color graded in 4K, from its original 35mm camera and sound negative reels, at Cité de Mémoire in Paris, France. The sound restoration was handled by L.E. Diapason.
