“HOMAGE” A Solo Exhibit by Romeo Cortez Jr.

Romeo Cortez Jr. Was born in Taytay, Rizal but spent his growing up years in his mother’s hometown, the scenic town of Lucban, Quezon where he developed a love for its lush environment and warm inhabitants.

Romeo’s mother dreamt of having a seaman for a son, Romeo is the youngest in the family of three. He finished a course in Merchant Marine but he never worked in a ship. He started painting when he was in high school after a cousin gifted him with a set of brush and multi colored paints.

A “Realist” he colorfully captured daily scenes in Lucban by keenly observing the inhabitants of the picturesque town.

Romeo’s reputation has grown leaps and bounds and this was proven when his name was included in the list of 100 Artists from all over the country to participate in the Centennial Celebration of the Philippine Independence at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Even the National Centennial Commission took special notice of his works and offered him the first One Man Exhibit at the prestigious Manila Hotel and the Shangri-la Hotel in Manila.

Romeo’s 8th Solo Art Exhibition entitled “Homage” will be showcased from September 13 to October 1st 2021 at the Philippine Center Gallery in New York.
